Surf Ready Fitness (SRF) is a gym for surfers, plain and simple! Open since 2012, we cater to surfers, weekend warriors, moms, dads, groms and anyone that wants to improve their fitness. We're currently operating out of a 2400 sqft warehouse about 1 mile from the beach, located in Costa Mesa. Our gym is not a typical gym though! You won't see machines lining the walls or a plethora of treadmills stacked in front of TV's. We have an open floor concept where we utilize lots of functional equipment like Indo Boards, Bosus, TRX Suspension Trainers, bands, stability balls, medicine balls, Kettlebells and light dumbbells. We focus on functional power and strength with stability and correct movement being the overall goal. It's not about lifting heavy weights or performing exercises that have zero carryover; it's about using a scientific approach to exercise programming and performing those movements and exercise routines in a safe and structured environment. A solid foundation is required before you start introducing more difficult exercises and that requires taking a step back and looking at the body as one moving unit. We have to put all of the pieces together if we want to move more efficiently and one basic approach isn't going to work for everyone.

The SRF coaching staff has over 20 years experience working with surfers and training athletes. We help surfers of all levels improve performance thru functional training methods. Our coaching staff is made up of surfers and athletes who posses their degree in Exercise Science as well as multiple training certifications.
B.S. Exercise Science, NASM Sports Performance Training
Paul has been training athletes for almost 20 years and specifically surfers for over 10 years. He got his start with the strength and conditioning department at the University of South Florida. From there he was a sports performance coach for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays baseball team. Then a lucrative job position with Velocity Sports Performance landed him in SoCal where he started training surfers. He opened SRF in 2012 and his resume includes world tour athletes, Kanoa Igarashi, Courtney Conlogue, Sage Erickson, Brett Simpson, Michael Dunphy and other surfing standouts.

Kyle grew up surfing in New Jersey from a young age and moved to California in search of better waves and warmer weather. He is a Plymouth State University graduate with a degree in Exercise Science, certified by American Council on Exercise with a specialty focus in Functional Fitness. Kyle played soccer up until college, and still snowboards, surfs and skates regularly. Kyles love for all thing board sports lead him down the path of studying athletic performance, which ultimately lead him to SRF. He trained at a private studio in Long Beach for 5 years working with athletes from all over the spectrum including sailors, paddlers, golf, tennis, baseball, and soccer players.

Jeff was born, raised, and learned to surf in Charleston, South Carolina. He stood up on his first wave in New Smyrna Beach, Florida during a family vacation over 18 years ago and has been obsessed ever since. Jeff always had an eye on the surf whether it was traveling up and down the Eastern Seaboard in search of surf, chasing surf in Central America, or groveling at the local beach breaks of Charleston. It wasn't until Jeff attended College of Charleston that he realized his dream of working with surfers as a sports medicine professional. He graduated from College of Charleston in 2015 with a double major in Athletic Training and Exercise Science. He moved out to Southern California after graduation to work at Vanguard University of Southern California as a certified athletic trainer where he was assigned with the men's basketball team. During his two-year tenure there, he was able to cover all 11 of the Athletic Department's sports teams, but he spent most of his time focusing on injury rehabilitation and sport's performance. He has had the opportunity to cover not only Vanguard University sporting events, but also a variety of other sports events such as Southern California Youth Rugby since moving to California.
Jeremy grew up with a passion for sports. Born and raised in Orange County, he played various sports throughout his life. He advanced his passion for sports by earning his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from California State University Fullerton. Shortly after graduating he became a strength and conditioning intern at Servite High School, coaching and developing programs in the weight room for various teams such as the tennis, track and field, and water polo varsity and junior varsity teams. Soon after starting his internship at Servite High School, Jeremy began working as a personal trainer with older adults at the Laguna Woods Village Fitness Center. Jeremy’s training philosophy comes down to two words, reduce and resist. He believes that injuries are inevitable whether they result in sports or in everyday living and recognizes that with proper training there is a likely chance to reduce the number of injuries that occur and resist the magnitude of an injury. In his spare time, Jeremy likes to hangout with friends and play sports.
